    New Orleans

    When it finally came time to begin our journey back west, I started planning our route through the south. Being on the Gulf Coast, I knew New Orleans would be a place we would want to visit. I looked over the map and the calendar. We planned to leave Alabama on Sunday, February 19th. I noticed the following Wednesday was labeled “Ash Wednesday,” the start of lent.     Nashville

    Originally, our trip to Nashville was planned as a birthday outing for the missus, but as usual the Christmas baby had her birthday ruined. This year, by a “Bomb Cyclone” that kept us huddled inside the camper, but also gave us a wonderfully white Christmas. We parked in the lot near Nissan Stadium and walked across the pedestrian bridge into downtown. We had lunch at The Diner on the 5th floor, and then meandered through the busy streets around Broadway, the performing arts center, legislative plaza, war memorial, and eventually to the State Capitol grounds.
